The news agency Bloomberg reported the news that Apple would fire Richard Williamson because of the controversial story on Maps iOS 6 . To put the doorWilliamson has thought Eddy Cue , Apple's senior vice president, took up the post as soon as a month , is seeking advice from experts in-mapping technology to raise the situation.
By doing so, Apple tries to regain the confidence of users were disappointed ( not all ) after using the new version of Maps for iOS, the development of which was directed by itsWilliamson with negative results to say the least. The lack of information, some errors in the satellite images, the edge of a roadway sufficiency in some regions are just some of the reasons which have led to widespread resentment and negative comments from users. It is precisely for this reason that, a month after the release of the application, Tim Cook had to beg public apology to consumers through an open letter .
Soon after, in part because of the debate on the failure of Maps, Scott Forstall , Apple's former Senior Vice President, was removed from leadership for refusing, among other things, to apologize publicly users preferring, instead, a different attitude, or continue working on software to make improvements.
Trudy Muller , a spokeswoman for Apple, did not comment on the decision to Cue , focusing its attention on the words expressed by Cook in September, and that is that most users use Maps, the application will improve more. And more:
We are extremely sorry for the frustration that the story of maps created for our users and we are doing everything possible to improve the software.
We do not know who will take the place of Williamson ; know, however, that between the intentions of Cue is to hire a new leader to be put at the head of the development team.Currently, there is one that has worked and is working to correct the errors of Maps, focusing primarily on the most obvious. This is not the first time, however, that Cue finds himself having to solve a complicated situation. In the past, it was the same Jobs to give him a sensitive issue on the MobileMe service and some errors related to the online storage.
