Sales of the iPhone 5 have allowed Apple to reach a market share of 48.1% in the mobile phone market in the United States, giving it to the iOS platform the long-awaited dell'agguerritissimo overtaking rival Android . Despite this, however, at the global level, the numbers are not exactly the same.
The latest data come from Kantar Worldpanel reveal that the launch of the iPhone 5 has helped Apple to overcome, in the sales numbers, the Android platform, which has stopped at an altitude of 46.7% in the last 12 weeks . It does not end here. The share of Apple, always in the U.S. market (but in general all over the world) is expected to continue in the short run, due to the increase in inventories of the iPhone 5 during the Christmas period .
"The last time it was registered to overtake iOS against Android in the United States, it was soon after the launch of the iPhone 4S, and Apple was able to maintain its leadership for three consecutive quarters. This time, we expect that Apple will be able to break his previous record of 49.3% to reach within the next six months, its market share larger than ever in the U.S. market of smartphones. "
These are the words of the global consumer insight director at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, Dominic Sunnebo. According to Kantar Worldpanel, then, although Apple has reinforced its position relative to a year ago in four of the five largest countries in Europe (except in Germany), sales of Samsung Galaxy S3, with regard to Android, those of Nokia Lumia 610 and 800, for Windows Phone, they are representing a great threat to further growth and capillary iOS devices .
